Software Approval 24-25

The Software Approval Process initiated in 2023-2024 by MCS will continue to be the method through which any school or district (instructional) software will be vetted before purchase. This is in order to comply with new DPI requirements for Student Data Privacy, and to ensure the district has the ability to implement and support any new programs.

Note:  The list of programs already approved by the ISA team can be found at www.ncmcs.org/approved. However, approval is site-based and should not be seen as a district-wide authorization to purchase. Any purchase by a new site, regardless of prior approval elsewhere, must be submitted for review prior to purchase.

Note: Sites with an approved, ISA vetted purchase can renew that product by simply informing the Department for Technology of the new contract dates and cost.

Filling out the request: In order to proceed with any program implementation, you must provide the information on the online Program Approval form.  A PDF copy is available here so that you may review the required fields.

If any student data is used by the program, you must also have the vendor fill out the Third Party Data Collection worksheet available for download here.  This will be attached to the online form when you submit it.

When you have reviewed this information and prepared the worksheet, you may go to this link to submit a program approval request.  Log in with your MCS email address and password.

Submitted forms will go first to Technology to ensure they are compatible with district systems, then will be reviewed quarterly by the ISA Team.
