MCS

The classroom phase runs for 30 hours, broken down into 10 days of 3 hours each during the school year and 4 days of 7 ½ hours in the summer and spring break. Sometimes we have to change a class schedule for a variety of reasons, but we try not to and will do our best to pass on any modification in the schedule.

In class, students are required to present an unaltered Social Security card and a certified birth certificate. More information on this will be provided by the instructor. It is not necessary to have these items on the first day.

During the course, students will receive an eye exam from a North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) representative and be asked a series of questions about their health. If there is a problem, the representative will provide more information and provide a form to be completed by a medical person. This must be done before the driving phase. Students are placed in the BTW driving queue only after they have been vision tested! If medical clearance is required, please let this office know when the clearance letter comes. We do not accept copies.

Class should be taken seriously.  If you fail the first exam you can retest, but this may delay your BTW training significantly.  MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PASS THE FIRST EXAM!  Adult behavior is required. Students will be dismissed from class if they are unruly and/or disruptive. We have the same expectations for success as the DMV.  Students will receive adequate study material in order to be successful. Also, links to the DMV practice tests and the Driver's Handbook are available online. This is good practice for our final exam, as well as the DMV test.
