Transfers and Discretionary Admissions

Student Admissions and Transfers If a parent has a need for their child to attend a school outside of their zoned attendance area, they can request a school transfer provided they meet the criteria set forth by the Moore County Board of Education.

Our Kindergarten Registration Day that was scheduled for March 20th had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Due to this cancellation, Moore County Schools did not open a student transfer window for incoming kindergarten students as we had originally planned.

Please be aware that we will be opening the transfer window for the 2020-21 school year from
Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 15 for rising kindergarten students only.  The transfer window has closed for all other grade levels.

Parents of rising kindergarten students who would like to request a student transfer may contact Gina Kelly at gkelly@ncmcs.org for information on how to submit their online request.  All transfer requests must be submitted by midnight on Friday, May 15.  If you are interested in submitting a transfer request, please contact Mrs. Kelly by email as soon as possible so that you will have ample time to submit your online request by the deadline.

Visit Moore County Schools Student Support Services webpage to access additional information related to the 2020-21 student transfer/discretionary admission process.

Below, you will find a letter sent home to all parents, information related to the student transfer and discretionary admission process, a link to the online application, and a list of "capped" schools for 2020-2021.  Capped schools are those that are at or over 95% of capacity and are unable to accept new transfer or discretionary admissions.  Proactive and Rising Grade transfer requests for capped schools will be considered to the extent possible.
