Security Protocols and Public Gathering Guidelines

MOORE COUNTY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS

SECURITY PROTOCOLS:

On the recommendation of Moore County Schools police, the following security protocols for School Board meetings will be utilized:

Everyone who attends the meeting may be required to pass through a metal detector to gain entry to the building, as is the routine practice at many government meetings; and
Moore County Schools police officers will be present at the meeting.

These protocols are to help ensure a safe and orderly board meeting for all attendees.

GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC GATHERINGS:

Moore County Schools has designated a portion of the outdoor area on campus for public rallies or gatherings on public school matters on the day of the Board of Education’s regular business meeting. If members of the public wish to gather for peaceful assembly on this date, the following guidelines apply:

Assembly may begin no earlier than 5 p.m. and must disperse upon adjournment of the meeting;

Any bull horns or other types of amplification systems must be directed away from buildings and must not be so loud as to disrupt district operations, official meetings, or rallies held by other groups;

Moore County Schools Police will provide direction for a dedicated staging area(s) as well as designated parking for demonstrators. Other parts of the premises will remain off limits; and

If there is more than one group demonstrating, Moore County Schools Police will provide direction for separate staging areas at which to assemble.

These guidelines apply to the regular business meetings of the Board of Education only and do not create any rights of access to Moore County Schools property or facilities at any other date or time.
