Enrollment and Admission

Eligibility
To be eligible for services through Moore County Schools Preschool Program, the child must be three to five years of age, not eligible for kindergarten, and a resident of Moore County.

Tuition 

  • Children in a tuition slot must pass a developmental screening (educational and speech/language) prior to enrollment. They may not be eligible for exceptional education services. Annual registration and weekly fees apply. Effective for the 2020-2021 school year, enrollment priority will be given in the order as follows:
    • To children of Moore County School Employees
    • To siblings of children currently enrolled in the preschool classroom who will return in the upcoming school year
    • To families based on the time and date of application to be placed on the tuition waiting list, beginning with the earliest

 NC Pre-K

Children enrolling in the NC Pre-Kindergarten Program must be determined eligible, and awarded a slot by the Moore County NC Pre-Kindergarten Committee.

    • The program serves children who are four years old by August 31st of the program year, and are at risk for poor school outcomes. Factors that put children at risk for poor school outcomes include low income, limited English proficiency, identified disability, chronic health condition and developmental or educational need.
    • Children of Active Duty military families are also eligible.
    • Priority is given to eligible children who have not been served in any other preschool or child care program.

    Exceptional Children Program

      Children enrolling in the exceptional education program go through a screening, referral and evaluation process. An IEP Team determines if a child meets eligibility and is in need of special education and related services as outlined in North Carolina's Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities.

      • Children may be referred to Moore County Schools by parents, health professionals, early education professionals and the Early Intervention Program.
