School Board Starts Superintendent Search
MCS LogoOn October 29, 2021, MCS Superintendent Dr. Bob Grimesey announced his retirement effective January 31, 2022. The Moore County Board of Education retained the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) to help facilitate its search for the next superintendent of Moore County Schools (MCS).

The Board of Education conducted a survey and received direct input from interested students, parents, and members of the community to help shape the search process. The survey results have been a viable asset to the Board of Education assisting with defining characteristics, experience and skills desired in the next superintendent.

The Board of Education held a Special Called meeting (closed session) with NCSBA's Jim O'Rourke on Monday, March 21, 2022 to go over submitted applications, choose first round interviewees, and decide on questions to ask.

The Board of Education conducted initial interviews, selected finalists, final interviews, decided on terms of offer, and contract negotiations between April 4, 2022 to May 19, 2022.

The Board of Education elected Dr. Tim Locklair as the new Superintendent of MCS on May 26, 2022.
