On October 29, 2021, MCS Superintendent Dr. Bob Grimesey announced his retirement effective January 31, 2022. The Moore County Board of Education has retained the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) to help facilitate its search for the next superintendent of Moore County Schools (MCS). The Board of Education is seeking direct input from interested students, parents, members of the community to help shape the search process and to assist in defining the characteristics, experience and skills desired in the next superintendent. Moore County Schools received $9,000 in book donations from the Purple Up! Book Drive sponsored by Sandhills Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) during the Month of the Military Child in April.
