• Inclement Weather

MCS Moore County Schools continually monitors inclement weather reports from the Moore County Department of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, WRAL-TV, Intellicast, the National Weather Service and The Weather Channel to make informed decisions on whether to alter the schools operating schedule. All inclement weather-related decisions must take into account the road conditions county-wide. For example, if inclement weather impacts one portion of the county, Moore County Schools will make a decision based on the impacted area of the county.

Moore County Schools will issue a notification of a change in school operating schedules either the evening before an expected weather event or by 6 a.m. the day of the expected weather event. If no notification is issued by 6 a.m., schools will operate on a normal schedule. If a weather event develops during the day, notifications will be issued as soon as possible if a decision is reached to dismiss schools early.

Any alteration of our school schedules such as a delay, closing or early dismissal, will be communicated on the Moore County Schools website and its social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter), and through ConnectEd, the district’s communication system. School schedule alterations will also be communicated to the media outlets listed below. It is good practice to check multiple sources such as media outlets in the event weather impacts the district's communications system. If you receive a call from the ConnectEd system but don't answer it, call the number back for a voice recording of the notification.

It is important to have most current and up-to-date contact information in our database for ConnectEd messages, including home and work phone numbers and email addresses. Please update your information with your child’s school(s) if needed.
