Moore County Board of Education Finalizes Purchase of Land for New Area III Elementary School

CARTHAGE, N.C. – January 6, 2017 – Moore County Schools has finalized the purchase of 12 acres of land located in Morganton Park North for the construction of a new elementary school to replace Southern Pines Elementary and Southern Pines Primary Schools. The planned two-story facility will accommodate 800 students. The purchase was accompanied by a donation of 6.5 acres from Robert and Julie Van Camp, owners of the parcel. - More -

Public Input Needed for Upcoming Calendars

From now through January 20, 2017, Moore County Schools is asking for feedback from the public on the school calendars for academic years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. Click here to view the 2017-2018 school calendar and click here to view the 2018-2019 school calendar. Please be aware of the mandates from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for calendar management that are noted to the right of each calendar for your reference. Staff should be aware that this year, the school and employee calendars have been combined into one. All feedback will be collected and reviewed by the Moore County Schools Calendar Committee.

Join the Dialogue, Speak Up  

Speak Up Moore County Schools students, parents, teachers and staff are encouraged to participate in Speak Up, an online national research project facilitated by Project Tomorrow. The North Carolina Department of Instruction (NCDPI) has released School Report Cards for the entire state. Each report card includes information about school and student performance, access to technology, school safety and teacher quality. The data compiled in the NC School Report Cards reflects assessments of each school and the entire district for the 2015-16 academic year.

Area I Elementary School

Area I Elementary School Located on Camp Easter Road, the new Area I elementary school will alleviate overcrowding at Sandhills Farm Life and Vass-Lakeview elementary schools. The 113,772 sq. ft. facility will have a capacity for 800 students from kindergarten through the 5th grade. - More -

Advanced Career Center
Advanced Career Center Located on the campus of Sandhills Community College, the Advanced Career Center will be a 114,991 sq. ft., three-story facility to accommodate 600 to 800 high school students each instructional day.
